COS’s Rules for a Greener Office
a. Open those blinds, using natural light not only saves money on electric bills, the natural light makes for a brighter, healthier office environment. With the use of the new fluorescent bulbs or the use of LED lights, you can lower your electric bill by at least 50 % and the natural light has the added attraction of making you feel good.
b. Try to recycle your used paper, boxes and catalogues. Most companies do have a policy for doing just that. If not, try to institute it. It saves trees. Put a message on your outgoing email stating: Is it necessary to print this email? Help save a tree today."
Storage electronically for data and files is a good way to save paper and make more room in your office.
c. When purchasing CDs and DVDs try to use the re-writeable ones. They do help with creating less plastic around the office. Also the use of refillable pens and mechanical pencils helps to save trees and reduce plastic waste.
d. Recycling old computers, used printer cartridges and other old equipment makes for a greener environment.
e. In the lunchroom or breakroom try using the new bio based cleaners. Many of the new products we carry can help reduce the use of plastic bags and paper plates.
f. The use of new Energy qualified products and machines help to cut down the electric bills, especially during the summer time when air conditioner use is at a high.
